Green Room Makeover

A Green Room is many things. It is a lounge, where actors and technicians relax and prepare during rehearsals and performances. It is a lunch room for Citadel staff and a place where directors give notes before and after performances. A Green Room is the heart of a Theatre.

When we contacted Classic Landmarks in January of 2007 about potentially renewing their Mainstage sponsorship for the 2007/08 season, we asked them if they could also help us with a special project. Our Shoctor Green Room needed a serious makeover including paint, carpet, cupboards and furniture. Being a not-for-profit organization, we tend to put our dollars on the stage and in the public areas of the building. After a brief meeting in our rundown Green Room, Classic Landmarks offered to donate a complete renovation.

We are very pleased to welcome back Classic Landmarks as our Mainstage sponsor, and extremely grateful for this innovative contribution to the Citadel Theatre!

At our Green Room Unveiling Ceremony, our Associate Artistic Director, James MacDonald, summed it up quite accurately by incorporating titles of famous plays by William Shakespeare:

“As Shakespeare might have put it, before Classic Landmarks came to the Citadel, our Green Room was “Much Ado about Nothing”. They asked to do it “As They Like It”. We agreed, so they brought in a crack team to do a “Measure for Measure”. And now “All’s Well that Ends Well”!

“Thank You Classic Landmarks” from everyone at the Citadel!
