WORKING WITH CITADEL THEATRE
We wish to acknowledge that the land on which we live and work is Treaty No. 6 territory and a traditional meeting ground and home of the First Nations, including both the treaty signatories – Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stony and Cree-Iroquois – as well as other Indigenous peoples, such as the Blackfoot and Métis, who occupied this land. We extend our appreciation for the opportunity to live, create and perform on this territory.
The Citadel Theatre is in the heart of amiskwaciwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ (Edmonton, AB), and we are proud to call Treaty 6 territory home. As a regional theatre, it is integral that we ensure that the stories we tell, as well as the composition of our artists, board, staff, students, and audience are reflective of the diverse lived experiences in this dynamic city. We encourage submissions from professional artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities. For more on Citadel Theatre’s Equity, Inclusivity, and Diversity commitments, please visit: https://bit.ly/CitadelEDI.
If there are any potential barriers (language, disability, or any other considerations) preventing you from applying to audition please let us know and we will work with you to overcome them.
Accessibility: Citadel Theatre’s rehearsal facilities are accessible to artists that have mobility access needs. Our building is equipped with elevators and numerous accessible washrooms. The Maclab Theatre stage and backstage areas currently have reduced accessibility to artists that have mobility access needs. The Maclab is a unique thrust stage with multiple stairs, risers, and steep ramp entrances and the backstage area does not currently have accessible washrooms or dressing rooms; we are working to correct these issues in the space and are very open to discussing potential workarounds and solutions. Please let us know if you have any questions about the physical layout of our spaces, or other access needs.

Actor 1
- JANE (she/her). Late 20s–early 30s. The eldest Bennet daughter. Kind, idealistic, diffident. Always tries to do the right thing.
- MISS de BOURGH (she/her). Lady Catherine’s daughter. Probably allergic to sun. Underneath all her veils, she may be covered in scales.
Actor 2
- LIZZY (she/her). A year or two younger than Jane. Clever, spirited; can be sharp-tongued. Gets flustered, which makes her klutzy. Prides herself on good judgment. Very very scared of marriage, after absorbing the lessons of her parents’ marriage.
Actor 3
- LYDIA (she/her). 14. The youngest Bennet. Lively, prone to imitating others’ behavior and eavesdropping.
- LADY CATHERINE (she/her). Patrician Caesar-meets-drill sergeant.
Actor 4
- DARCY (he/him). Late 30s–40s. One of the richest people in England. Too proper for his own good; awkward in most social contexts. Prides himself on self-control and good judgment.
