Learn to be a triple threat as you explore singing, dance and acting with our talented instructors. Discover how scene work, vocals, and choreography work together to tell stories in exciting ways. The class focuses on group performance skills for musical theatre, with opportunities to work on solo pieces as well.
Barbara Mah is a director, actor, choreographer and playwright and has been active in the Edmonton arts scene for more than twenty-five years. She has taught musical theatre at the Foote school for over 14 years. Directing highlights include: Triangle Factory Fire, Ragtime, Titanic, Drowsy Chaperone, Gypsy, A Chorus Line, Anything Goes, and Sweet Charity. Performance highlights include: The Laramie Project, Broadway Babies, A Chorus Line, Rocky Horror Show, The Wiz, The World Goes Round, and Grapes of Wrath. She’s also an Arts Development Consultant (theatre) for the Arts Branch and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Sally Hunt is an Edmonton-based a teacher, music director, and mentor. Sally is a classically-trained musician, studying both violin and piano. She spent many years as a choral accompanist and orchestral musician, and has performed throughout Western Canada as a collaborative artist. As a musical theatre director and conductor, favourite theatre projects include: “Cabaret”; “next to normal”; “Sweeney Todd”; “The Threepenny Opera”; “The Wizard of Oz”; and “Wonderful Town” (for Citadel Theatre’s Young Musical Company). As an artist, Sally continues to learn and study, most recently through programs with Maestra, The Broadway Teaching Group, and The International Music Directors Symposium. Sally joined the faculty of the Foote Theatre School in 2010, and works with students of all ages and experience levels.
