The Citadel Theatre, one of Canada’s largest and busiest professional, not-for-profit theatre companies and facilities, is currently seeking a Bar Manager. Reporting to the Director of Hospitality and working frequently with the Rentals and Front of House Team, the Bar Manager plays a crucial role by overseeing the Bar Department and managing the operations of the Citadel’s Bar Services. This role is responsible to develop, oversee, train, and efficiently manage the Bar Services team and related services for all theatre productions and events. The Bar Manager will ensure that patron experience, customer satisfaction and safety are prioritized, while also meeting revenue targets and maintaining company standards as well as taking a proactive leadership role in fostering a respectful and positive workplace to support the overall success of the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee all operations for Bar Services for Citadel Theatre productions, events, and rental clients.
- Work closely with all departments to ensure the highest patron experience standards are adhered to.
- Lead the selection, training, scheduling, development, and supervision of all Bar Staff.
- Provide adequate supervision at all events within the Theatre.
- Provide current and thorough knowledge of products and specifications to a standard that allows for consistent execution and accurate communication to patrons.
- Maintain inventory of food and beverage products and ensure adequate stock is ordered, received, and maintained.
- Perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities at Citadel Theatre productions and other events, acting as the main escalation point of contact during performances and events, overseeing the performance operations of Hospitality Staff (Bar, Front of House).
- Prepare and reconcile deposits and cash floats for staff.
- Maintenance of department specific equipment and resources (point-of-sale systems, appliances, inventory tracking system, etc.).
- Identify, develop, and maintain department specific processes and procedures.
- Ensure the timely and accurate receipt, storage, and deployment of product deliveries.
- Pour and mix cocktails, beer, and wine in accordance with Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) requirements, Citadel training, and recipes.
- Use a point-of-sale system to process transactions, run reports, and maintain inventory with a high degree of accuracy.
- Maintain a meticulously clean and organized environment of all service and storage spaces.
- Adhere to, train, and enforce AGLC and associated regulations, laws, and/or policies relating, but not limited to, the service of alcohol.
- Liaise with rental clients to tailor services to their needs and supervise flawless execution of bar service at all rental events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2+ years in a supervisory hospitality role.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- The ability to quickly build rapport with staff, patrons, clients and suppliers.
- The ability to coach and supervise a large, dynamic team.
- Competency in Microsoft 365 suite.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with non-profit or performing arts organizations.
- Experience with Tessitura, Skedda, Clover, and Synerion.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- ProServe and First Aid Certifications required.
- Flexible schedule that requires evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25lbs.

Salary Rage: $48,450 – $52,000 per year.
