Ruth is an Edmonton-based actor/musician originally from Scotland. Her career spans four decades in theatre and television including: Once, A Christmas Carol (Citadel Theatre); A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Freewill Festival); TWO (Edmonton Fringe); Les Misérables (U.K. Tour); and a recurring role on long running series Coronation Street. As a musical director, her work includes: Little Shop of Horrors (Citadel Theatre); Catalyst Theatre’s The Invisible, Vigilante in concert, Nevermore at Vertigo Theatre for which she won The Betty Mitchell Award for Best Music Direction. Ruth is also the co-artistic producer of Theatre Yes alongside her husband, director Max Rubin.

Patricia Cerra is an award-winning artist with a multi-faceted national career where she has worked on over fifty productions with dozens of companies. She received the Sterling Award for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role, Comedy. Citadel performance credits include: A Christmas Carol (6 seasons), The Fiancée, The Silver Arrow, Shakespeare in Love. As a director: workshops of The 7 Fires: A New Musical, Trials and Triumphs of a Tar Baby (The Musical Stage Company); The Entire Hamlet (Alberta Theatre Projects, workshop director & dramaturg); Tune to A (Azimuth Theatre); Here There Be Night (Theatre Network & Workshop West co-pro); Horizon Lab (Citadel Theatre). Since graduating from the U of A he has been fortunate enough to work with The Citadel Theatre, Arts Club Theatre Company, Bard on The Beach, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Freewill Shakespeare Festival, Teatro La Quindicina, Lunchbox Theatre, Punctuate! Theatre, Pyretic Productions, Thou Art Here Theatre, and more. Recent highlights include playing Orlando in As You Like It (Bard on the Beach) and Max in Peter Pan Goes Wrong (Citadel, Arts Club). John is very familiar to The Citadel Theatre. Anjali DeSilva is an Edmonton born actor and singer and is proud to be in her first Citadel show. Edgar is very excited to be making his debut theatre performance at the Citadel Theatre in A Christmas Carol, where he gets to perform onstage with his dad, Steven. He is a student at Citadel’s Foote Theatre School, and enjoys playing piano, creating alphabets, crafting, designing theme park rides, making shows with his friends, and playing with his dog Gotham. Nora is 8 years old and this is her debut with The Citadel Theatre. She is “lovin’ every minute of it”! Nora’s previous stage experience includes appearing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (ELOPE Musical Theatre). While Nora isn’t “hitting the books” keeping up with the demands of grade three student life, you may find her singing and playing her Ukulele, at the pool bobbing for rings, or dominating in a neighborhood game of Hide and Seek. She adores animals, reading fantasy books, and absolutely loves whipping up some scrambled eggs for the Family. She is grateful for this chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and make new friends. Nora wishes to thank the amazing directing team, cast, and crew for their guidance and support as she navigates this new experience.

Lewis loves to entertain. He can usually be found practicing backflips at local parks, teaching martial arts to random strangers, making movies and improvising plays with neighbourhood friends, or performing magic tricks at family gatherings. The son of singer-songwriter Martin Kerr and author/event producer Tara Rout, Lewis has been around the arts all his life. He has appeared in 3 music videos, and taken leading roles in school productions, most recently as Thor in ‘Loki, The Betrayer’. Lewis is a blue-belt in Tae Kwon Do and writes his own songs.

Aubrey is an Edmonton actor currently in her 4th Grade. She is excited to return to A Christmas Carol after playing the alternate Tim Cratchit in the 2022 Citadel production. She is a graduate of the Foote Theatre School Summer Camp and absolutely loves the theatre! Aubrey is an accomplished Ninja Warrior and will be competing in the 2023 Canadian National Finals in Edmonton. She would like to thank her biggest fans (her family), especially her big brother Parker for inspiring her to be an actor and a Ninja.

Parker (@parkinator_ninja on IG) is an Edmonton actor fresh off of playing the Big Bad Wolf in his Jr High Musical, The Big Bad Musical. He is excited to return to the cast of A Christmas Carol after debuting in the 2022 Citadel production. Parker is one of the highest ranked Ninja Warriors in Canada and is competing in this year’s Canadian National Finals in Edmonton. Nicolas is an Edmonton-born actor and a student at Victoria School of the Arts. Josh Plamondon is a Grade 10 actor who is honored to play Peter Cratchit in A Christmas Carol. This is Josh’s fourth appearance in this play. Spike was born in Liverpool, UK and arrived in Edmonton in 2017. He is a grade 6 student at Victoria School of the Arts. This is Spike’s second appearance in A Christmas Carol. Last year he played Ignorance amongst other roles.
Spike loves reading and building massive structures in Roblox. He occasionally builds Lego sets. He would like to thank his Mom and Dad and his dog, Jolene.

Thalia is thrilled to be back for her second time in A Christmas Carol. She has many years of dance and musical theatre training and loves to perform. Other interests include: playing the piano, art, writing, reading and decorating for the holidays. Thalia is continuing in the German bilingual program at a new school this year and is looking forward to her upcoming school trip to Germany. Wren is a grade five student who loves dragons, cats, and Moonshadow Elves. Last year she played Willy Wonka in her school’s production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She has taken a musical theatre class and a summer theatre camp at the Citadel’s Foote Theatre School. She is loving her first big production and sends thanks to her family, Mrs. Johnson (her drama teacher), and to her three cats and dog.
David van Belle,

David is an Edmonton-based playwright whose works include The Highest Step in the World, Liberation Days, GIANT, Love is Magic (winner of the 2022 Gwen Pharis Ringwood prize) and The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst. David has been Writer-in-Residence for the Edmonton Public Library, Playwright-in-Residence at Alberta Theatre Projects, an ensemble member of One Yellow Rabbit and Co-Artistic Director of Ghost River Theatre. These days you’ll find him working at the Abbottsfield Library. A Christmas Carol couldn’t have been written without many wise and useful observations from his partner Vanessa Sabourin. Daryl is the Artistic Director of the Citadel. He has directed internationally in countries such as South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and across Canada, including: Shaw Festival, National Arts Centre, Neptune (Halifax), Arts Club (Vancouver) and Canadian Stage (Toronto). For the Citadel, Daryl has recently directed: Almost a Full Moon, Network, Jane Eyre, The Fiancée, Shakespeare in Love, and Matilda. Daryl’s award-winning, Beatles-infused adaptation of As You Like It has played at the Citadel, Bard on the Beach (Vancouver), RMTC (Winnipeg), Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Milwaukee Rep. This winter it will play at The Shakespeare Theater (Washington, DC) and Theatre Calgary.

Leigh Ann is the recipient of seven Merritt awards for design and was nominated for the Siminovitch Prize. When not designing, she teaches at the National Theatre School of Canada.

Mishelle is a composer, sound designer, and musician based in Vancouver. Past projects at the Citadel: The Herd, The Candidate, The Party, and Sweat. Other favourites include: Someone Like You (Arts Club); The Mixolydian (Green Thumb); Clean (Neworld); Made in Canada (rice & beans); A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare in Love, Lysistrata, Done/Undone (Bard on the Beach); The Matchmaker (Arts Club); and Titus Bouffonius (Rumble). Imogen Wilson,

Imogen is a Toronto based Lighting Designer who has designed for The Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, Chemainus Festival, Banff Centre for the Arts, Crow’s Theatre, Against the Grain, Summerworks, and Toronto Dance Theatre. Imogen has also worked as an assistant lighting designer for Mirvish, Canadian Opera Company, Stratford Festival, Musical and Canadian Stage. She is also a scenic painter, proud member of ADC 659, and loves to go for a canoe at sunset.
Nick Rose,
Associate Sound Designer
Nick is a Technical Director, Audio Technician, and Bike Mechanic currently residing on Treaty 6 Territory. He joined the Audio team at the Citadel in 2014 and is currently the Head of Audio. Laura has choreographed original musicals Vigilante, Nevermore, Frankenstein, Hunchback, Fortune Falls, and The Invisible for Catalyst Theatre. Laura has received the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, five Sterling Awards, a Betty Mitchell and a Lucille Lortel nomination for her work on the Off-Broadway run of Nevermore.

Lianna Makuch is a Ukrainian Canadian director, playwright, performer, and co-Artistic Director of Pyretic Productions. She has travelled several times to Ukraine to research and develop her plays Barvinok and Alina (Pyretic Productions), which have garnered awards and recognition including the Shevchenko Foundation’s 2020 REACH Award and a 2022 Edmonton Artist Trust Fund Award.
