Christine Sokaymoh Frederick is Executive Director of the Dreamspeakers Festival Society and producer of DIIFF and the Rubaboo Festival and inaugural Indigenous Associate Artist of the Citadel. Gianna Vacirca is a dancer, actor, choreographer and performing artist. She is also an Italian pastaia and the creator of Bell’uovo, a bespoke naturally colourful handmade pasta business based here in Edmonton. Coming up, catch her in Jane Eyre at the Citadel, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes at Theatre Network, and Evelyn Strange with Teatro La Quindicina. Shammy is a multi-talented artist from Edmonton, Alberta. Training with Toyguns Dance Theatre as well as taking part in the Citadel Young Company Acting program, they developed a passion for dance-theatre and storytelling. As an Indegenous and Somalian bi-racial person, they aim to be a part of works that elevate these voices and tell these stories. Karina Cox ,
Karina Cox could not be more excited to be in a theatre again and with this show that means so much! Previous credits include: We Will Rock You (North American Tour/Annerin Productions); Bears (Belfry Theatre/Factory Theatre); Mamma Mia! (Citadel Theatre); Jesus Christ Superstar, HAIR (Mayfield Dinner Theatre). Thank you to my family and friends for being so supportive through all the twists and turns of the past year and a half; I love you and there’s nothing you can do about it. (WE’RE IN THE THEATRE AGAIN, OH MY GOSH!!)
Skye Demas is of Cree, Ojibway and Dakota Sioux descent. Graduating from Victoria School of Performing Arts, she is a dancer, actor, performer and choreographer. She has performed in productions with Punctuate! Theatre, Alberta Aboriginal Performing Arts, SOAR Aboriginal Arts Program and Victoria School. Skye has performed dance in many Arts festivals since the age of seven and she has eight years of competitive dance training in various styles, as well as one year of acrobatic gymnastics training.
Chorus, Dance Captain
Alida Kendell is a dance artist and mother to her 3 year old daughter. She works primarily in Treaty 6 territory with the Good Women Dance Collective as a performer, choreographer and teacher. Pandemic restrictions have returned Alida to a solo practice that investigates durational improvisation as an escape from and return to self. Alida’s recent participation in the Hack Lab (Theatre Direct) has inspired her to create work that incorporates the experience of motherhood rather than trying to work despite it.
Zoë is an actor, dancer, and theatre producer. She co-led the Major Matt Mason Collective until recently, where she collaborated to develop and produce new plays as well as a playwriting competition for seven years. Zoë is a public library worker, human companion to two pooches, and is working on a diploma in communications. Previous credits include: Premium Content, Little Red, Control (Major Matt Mason Collective), Bears, Minosis Gathers Hope (Punctuate! Theatre), Stupid F@#cking Bird (Edmonton Actors Theatre), To Be Moved, Subway Circus (Blarney Productions).
Rebecca Sadowski ,
Rebecca is an Edmonton-based Métis performer and choreographer. She is an artistic member of the Good Women Dance Collective and curates dance programming for the Nextfest Festival. Upcoming this season, Rebecca will perform in Two Headed/ Half Hearted (Northern Light Theatre), Convergence (Good Women Dance Collective), and Ayita (Skirtsafire Festival) Recent credits include: Feast, The Sash Maker (Edmonton Fringe Festival), until the next breath, Breaking Baptist (Catalyst Theatre), Mr. Burns: A Post-Apocalyptic Play (You are Here Theatre), The Particulars, Bears (Punctuate! Theatre), No Guesses Found: Together (Edmonton Fringe Theatre).
Matthew MacKenzie ,
Matthew MacKenzie is a multi-award-winning Métis playwright from Edmonton. Artistic Director of Punctuate! Theatre, Matthew is the founder and an Artistic Associate with Pyretic Productions, the current Baillie Artistic Fellow at Toronto’s Soulpepper Theatre, Playwright-In-Residence at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Canadian Liaison of the Liberian Dance Troupe. In 2018, Bears won the Carol Bolt National Playwriting Award, was named co-winner of the Toronto Theatre Critics Award for Best New Canadian Play and won a Dora Award for Outstanding New Play.

T. Erin Gruber ,
Erin Gruber is an award-winning set, lighting, costume and projected media designer. She is a graduate of the University of Alberta and works professionally across Canada and around the world. In June 2019 her work was featured at the Prague Quadrennial International Design Exhibition. Selection of Award-winning projects: Métis Mutt (One Little Indian Productions, Sterling Award for Outstanding Production), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time (Citadel Theatre and RMTC, Sterling Award for Lighting Design). Assistant Lighting Designer
Kevin is thrilled to be assisting on Bears. Memorable past lighting designs include Avenue Q, Arcadia, and Romeo & Juliet (Citadel Theatre); Billy Twinkle: Requiem for a Golden Boy and Penny Plain (Ronnie Burkett Theatre of Marionettes); Sister Act (Mayfield Dinner Theatre); Bone Cage (Theatre Yes). His designs for theatre and dance have been seen across Canada, Europe, Australia, China and the United States. He is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada and is Chairperson of the Alberta Section of the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology.
Noor Dean Musani ,
Noor Dean Musani is an award-winning composer, songwriter, producer, sound designer, DJ, curator, and educator. He is known as much for his lively performances under his stage name Phatcat, as for his tireless work in Canada’s electronic music community. Founding the Future Roots collective (2005), he has been instrumental in enriching Canada’s arts landscape, hosting hundreds of risk-taking artists and releasing groundbreaking music through his label. Previous Composing Credits include: Bears*, After the Fire (Punctuate! Theatre/AAPA); The Other, SIA (Pyretic Productions).
Patrick graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada’s Acting Program (2009).Later that year he co-founded Edmonton’s Common Ground Arts Society where he
was a key artistic producer until 2016. Patrick worked at the Citadel Theatre for four seasons as an actor and the associate director of Outreach and Education. He is thrilled to be back. Sheiny Satanove ,
Sheiny Satanove (she/her) is a Vancouver-born theatre and film producer who has lived in Treaty 6 amiskwaciwâskahikan for over 10 years. She is a proud founding member of Punctuate! Theatre. Since 2010, Sheiny has produced over a dozen plays with the company, including several world premiere productions. She is also a freelance producer and coordinator in the film industry, and has worked on several feature films and television shows across the country. Sheiny is thrilled to get back to producing live theatre events!
Lianna Makuch (she/her) is a second-generation Ukrainian Canadian theatre artist. She is a producer with Punctuate! Theatre, co-Artistic Producer of Pyretic Productions, and has managed outreach and communications for several local arts organizations. She is the playwright and principal performer of Barvinok (Pyretic Productions/Punctuate! Theatre), which has garnered her awards and recognition from across the country and internationally. Her new play, Alina, will be premiering in Edmonton in May 2022. Coming up, Lianna will be Apprentice Director for the Citadel’s production of Jane Eyre in the spring. Lianna is a graduate of the BFA Acting Program at the University of Alberta.
Barry Bilinsky (he/him) is an Indigenous Artist from Amiskwaciywaskahikan of Métis, Cree, and Ukrainian lineage. Primarily a professional theatre and film director, Barry pursues work focused on the support, proliferation, and creation of Indigenous stories often linked to the cultural intersections he embodies. Working in technical as well as artistic roles, Barry believes that collaborative and holistic practices are the best way to ensure that diverse perspectives are honoured.
