PROGRAMS & MORE

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES

  • AUDIO DESCRIBED / SENSORY INFORMED / CAPTIONED PERFORMANCE June 5 2027 - 1:30 pm

    AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCE

Performances where patrons can listen to a description of the visual aspects of the performance described live through a small radio receiver provided by the Citadel Theatre.

    SENSORY INFORMED PERFORMANCE

A Sensory Informed performance is like a Relaxed Experience in that it offers an accessible option to audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment in the theatre or those who may have not normally felt comfortable attending a live performance. This may be ideal for people with sensory concerns, autism spectrum disorders, learning disorders, dementia, families with babies or younger children, or those that may need to be able to leave the theatre frequently during the performance. It is a “no shushing” performance that allows our audience members to be themselves!

    OPEN AND CLOSED CAPTIONED PERFORMANCE

Open Captions use real-time captions to represent spoken dialogue and other important audio elements during the show through screens visible to all patrons.

Closed Captions use real-time captions to represent spoken dialogue and other important audio elements during the show through a personal captioning device (personal phone or a Citadel iPad available at the coat check).

We offer both options to our patrons for our Captioned performances.

    Captioning by Jeffrey Weigl, WizCap.

When a worldwide travel disruption leaves 7,000 passengers stranded, the small town of Gander, Newfoundland welcomes them with open hearts. Fear and uncertainty give way to friendship, generosity, and unexpected connections. Filled with memorable songs and moving stories, it is a heartfelt reminder of the strength of ordinary people and the extraordinary ways we can care for one another.
