PROGRAMS & MORE

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES

  • AUDIO DESCRIBED / SENSORY INFORMED / CAPTIONED PERFORMANCE April 17 2027 - 1:30 pm

    AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCE

Performances where patrons can listen to a description of the visual aspects of the performance described live through a small radio receiver provided by the Citadel Theatre.

    SENSORY INFORMED PERFORMANCE

A Sensory Informed performance is like a Relaxed Experience in that it offers an accessible option to audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment in the theatre or those who may have not normally felt comfortable attending a live performance. This may be ideal for people with sensory concerns, autism spectrum disorders, learning disorders, dementia, families with babies or younger children, or those that may need to be able to leave the theatre frequently during the performance. It is a “no shushing” performance that allows our audience members to be themselves!

    OPEN AND CLOSED CAPTIONED PERFORMANCE

Open Captions use real-time captions to represent spoken dialogue and other important audio elements during the show through screens visible to all patrons.

Closed Captions use real-time captions to represent spoken dialogue and other important audio elements during the show through a personal captioning device (personal phone or a Citadel iPad available at the coat check).

We offer both options to our patrons for our Captioned performances.

    Captioning by Jeffrey Weigl, WizCap.

THE COMEBACK

March 27 - April 18, 2027

By Trish Cooper and Sam Vint Directed by Eric Coates Produced in Association with the National Arts Centre Indigenous Theatre (Ottawa)

When Jesse and Adam fall in love, life speeds up fast. An unexpected pregnancy brings two families together, Métis and settler, creating big laughs, surfacing buried history, and revealing plenty of heart. Adam’s family is loud, loving, and shaped by generations of historical injustice, while Adam searches for his own voice. When he turns to playwriting, everything comes to the surface. Inspired by stories from the playwrights’ own lives, this smart, funny, and deeply human comedy celebrates love, identity, and the beautiful chaos of family.
