30 students will be accepted into each Performance Lab.
You do not have to audition to register for the Performance Lab, but you do need to apply. Applications will be assessed based on commitment to the program, dedication to growing as an artist, and prior experience in theatre (ex. school productions, community theatre, previous classes, etc.).
We will spend the first couple of days of the Performance Lab learning a few songs and scenes from the show all together. Then, early in the first week, each student will audition individually for the Instructors. Everyone in the program gets a part – the auditions help us determine where we can best place everyone in the show.
It’s normal to feel disappointed when you don’t get a role you really wanted. For this program, however, we are very serious about finding team players. This is a big show, and we are determined to see that every student is given the opportunity to grow as an actor. Casting will be flexible (for example, students may share parts or be assigned multiple roles) and the expectation is that every student is committed to the program, regardless of casting. Casting will be at the sole discretion of the Instructional Team.
There will be some design elements added to the show, but the focus of the Performance Lab is performance. All actors will be expected to provide a base layer costume, but it will be very simple (for example, black shoes, jeans, and a t-shirt), and we will add elements as needed. Students are not expected or required to purchase any costume pieces for this class.
The Teen Performance Lab shows will run on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18.
The Youth Performance Lab shows will run on Friday, July 31.
Because we have 30 students and we are performing in a very small space, seating is extremely limited. For the first round of sales, each student may purchase up to 6 tickets in total. Tickets cost $15 +GST and can be purchased by phone only through the Box Office.
For the Teen Performance Lab: Students registered in the Teen Performance or Production Labs will have until June 2 to purchase up to 6 tickets. Any remaining tickets will be released for public sale on June 3, 2026.
For the Youth Performance Lab: Students registered in the Youth Performance Lab will have until June 2 to purchase up to 6 tickets. Any remaining tickets can be purchased by students of the Youth Performance Lab on a first-come, first-serve basis as of June 3, 2026.
