The Citadel Theatre is a not-for-profit Registered Charity and is pleased to support many community and charity events each year by donating performance tickets for charity fundraising initiatives.
To inquire, please read the following information and then fill out the form below. A staff member will follow up with you as soon as possible. In order to allow sufficient time to review your request, requests must be received at least four weeks in advance of your event.
Supporting our community is an important part of the Citadel Theatre’s work. One of the ways we do this is by donating ticket vouchers to local not-for-profit organizations for fundraising initiatives. These contributions help build relationships, increase access to live theatre, and amplify the impact of community partners.
Each season we support the fundraising efforts of approximately 200 organizations.
Because tickets are also a core source of earned revenue at Citadel Theatre, we balance generosity with sustainability and must allocate donations thoughtfully.
Eligibility Requirements
All requests must meet every requirement below:
- Requests must be received through Citadel Theatre’s “Request a Ticket Donation” webpage at least four weeks in advance of the event so that the Box Office team has time to process the request.
- The event must be a fundraiser for an Edmonton and surrounding area not-for-profit registered charity or theatre organization.
- Organizations may only receive one donation per season (productions running July 1 – June 30).
- The Citadel Theatre will not provide donations to political organizations or religious organizations. The Citadel does not grant ticket donations to for-profit ventures or individual fundraising efforts (bake sales, etc.).
Priority Considerations
Preference will be given to requests that:
- Have an expected attendance of 150 or more.
- Are made by current sponsors, Season Ticket Holders, volunteers, or staff of the Citadel Theatre.
- Special consideration may be given to organizations that recognize the Citadel through signage and program mention, allow cross-promotional opportunities, and offer reciprocal donations.
- Use our tickets for a silent auction (preferred over raffle, giveaway, or door prize).
- Preference may be given to arts events and to charities or organizations that have not received our support in the past two years.
Ticket Allocation
Vouchers are generally assigned to lower demand performances to preserve ticket revenue. Donations will be filled in order of requests received that meet eligibility requirements and priority considerations.
Specific productions (such as musicals or shows with shorter performance runs) may be granted only when a clear strategic or relationship-building reason exists.
Selected charities will be awarded a voucher that is redeemable for two tickets to a specific Citadel Theatre production. Day and date restrictions apply to donations, and seats are subject to availability. Vouchers are required to be redeemed in advance.
Donations have no cash value and must be accepted as awarded.
Donation awards will be emailed to the address provided in the application unless otherwise notified.
