The Citadel Theatre is hiring a part-time Events Supervisor!
The Events Supervisor plays a crucial role by facilitating a vibrant, busy arts hub in Edmonton that is connected to the Citadel Theatre’s artistic programming. The primary responsibility of this position is to execute events under the management of the Events Manager. The Events Supervisor is essential for ensuring the successful execution of events with both internal and external stakeholders and supporting the overall success of the organization.
The Citadel Theatre is an Edmonton-grown cultural cornerstone and a leading force in Canadian regional theatre, celebrated for bold, imaginative productions that deeply resonate with our local community while contributing to the national artistic conversation. As one of the largest not-for-profit theatres in North America, the Citadel attracts audiences from Edmonton and communities across central and northern Alberta.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Act as the on-site lead for assigned events, ensuring all logistics, setups, and breakdowns are executed according to plan.
- Liaise with internal departments, external clients, vendors, and guests to ensure smooth communication and service delivery throughout assigned events.
- Monitor event flow in real time, making informed decisions that align with event orders and Citadel Theatre policies.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building regulations from all engaged parties during all event activities, including reporting and documenting any incidents in detail
- Provide supervision and direction to part-time staff assigned to each event to successfully execute their duties.
- Utilize company systems and tools to ensure to manage event details clearly and efficiently
- Complete post-event reports, including financial notes, incident tracking, and recommendations for improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of customer service experience and/or minimum 1 year of event coordination experience.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Familiarity with cash-handling best practices
- Customer-focused mindset with an eye for building long-lasting relationships
- Ability to stay calm and make sound judgements quicky in fast-paced of high-pressure situations
- Understanding of crowd management and control and emergency procedures
- Familiarity with event management software, POS systems, and scheduling tools
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Familiarity with cash-handling best practices
- Customer-focused mindset with an eye for building long-lasting relationships
- Ability to stay calm and make sound judgements quicky in fast-paced of high-pressure situations

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Event specific education or training
- Proficiency in Momentus Elite, Outlook 365, Asana and Tessitura
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to be on feet for event duration, and to use stairs
- Weekend, evening and holiday availability as needed for events
- FoodSafe, ProServe certification
- First Aid Training
COMPENSATION & HOURS
Hourly Rate: $21.00 per hour
This is a part-time, casual position. The successful candidate must be available to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The anticipated start date for this position is May 25, 2026, with some flexibility based on candidate availability.
