FOH Supervisor

The Citadel Theatre, one of Canada’s largest and busiest professional, not-for-profit theatre companies and facilities, has an opening for a part-time FOH Supervisor. Reporting to the Front of House Manager, the FOH Supervisor is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patrons and clients attending performances or events at The Citadel Theatre. They are responsible for managing Front of House Staff and Volunteers on shift, and coordinating between Front of House, Hospitality and Box Office Operations, and the Back of House/Stage Management Team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Patron Ingress and Egress: as required, troubleshoot ticket scanners and help scan patrons’ tickets, solve seating issues (including but not limited to: double seatings, patrons wishing to move, and patrons who cannot get to their seat), know the theatre and building layouts and important locations within the complex, allow or disallow entry to the theatre as needed, facilitate the entry of latecomers, and other tasks related to the flow and movement of patrons.
  • Patron Experience: ensure a positive patron experience, answer and address patrons’ questions, comments and concerns, have a thorough knowledge of the Citadel Theatre’s Season and other goings-on in the building, pass patron feedback to management, suggest and implement changes to improve patron experience.
  • Safety: have a thorough knowledge of emergency and safety procedures. As required, be a first responder in emergencies, provide first aid, maintain and ensure adherence to theatre and safety rules, and other tasks related to maintaining the safety of patrons, staff and volunteers.
  • Reporting: as required, complete and distribute FOH Show Reports, write incident reports as needed.
  • Volunteer Management: as required, establish positive relationships with volunteers, ensure volunteers are completing the tasks assigned to them, schedule volunteers, log volunteer hours, communicate with volunteers about upcoming shifts, communicate with volunteers about missed shifts, monitor the volunteer email, address inappropriate volunteer behaviour.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 3 years of customer service experience.
  • Experience handling cash.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of technological equipment.
  • Standard First Aid – Level C CPR & AED Certification, or the willingness to be certified.
  • AGLC ProServe Certification, or the willingness to be certified.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to think on your feet and come up with solutions as problems arise.
  • The ability to adapt and adjust to a variety of situations, and to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to lead a team and be the primary point of contact on shift.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A strong passion for live theatre and a commitment to advancing accessibility in the arts.
  • Demonstrated dedication to the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and access (EDIA).
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear, effective communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively, collaborate with diverse personalities, and consider multiple perspectives.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a flexible, proactive, and team-oriented approach.
  • Weekend and evening availability is required. Some daytime availability is an asset.

Hourly wage for the FOH Supervisor role is $18.50.
