The House Captain is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patrons attending performances and events at the Citadel Theatre. The House Captain oversees the audience, including volunteers, during performances and events with the assistance of the FOH Supervisor, and maintains a patron services station.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Patron Ingress and Egress: Scan patrons’ tickets and troubleshoot ticket scanners, keep an accurate house count, know the theatre and building layouts and important locations within the complex, allow or disallow entry to the theatre as needed, facilitate the entry of latecomers and other tasks related to the flow and movement of patrons.
- Ice Cream & Coat Check: Facilitate sales (concessions and merchandise) using a Point-Of-Sale system and troubleshoot the POS system as needed, accept cash and debit/credit transactions, handle and count cash, take inventories, maintain an organized and efficient station, check, watch and return patrons’ coats and other tasks related to coat check and the sale and storage of product.
- Safety: Be a first responder in emergencies, know the emergency procedures, provide first aid as needed, sit inside the theatre during performances to watch for issues in the audience and be able to respond quickly, maintain and ensure adherence to health and safety rules according to emergency response plans and other tasks related to maintaining the safety of patrons, staff and volunteers.
- Reporting: Complete portions of the FOH Show Reports, take and report inventories, collect information and complete incident reports as needed, and other tasks related to reporting.
- Other Duties as Required, including but not limited to running or training volunteers on London Bar, ensuring inside ushers are paying attention to the audience, distribute equipment as needed, distribute programs as needed, work with other teams (such as Box Office, Bar, and Events) to provide the best customer service to patrons and clients, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Standard First Aid Level C CPR & AED Certification, or the willingness to be certified.
- AGLC ProServe Certification, or the willingness to be certified.
- Some customer service experience required.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Background in Arts and Cultural Management, or Hospitality.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekend, and holidays)
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs
COMPENSATION
Hourly wage: $17 per hour.
