The Citadel Theatre, one of Canada’s largest and busiest professional, not-for-profit theatre companies and facilities, has an opening for a full-time permanent Head of Audio. Reporting to the Technical Director, the Head of Audio is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the audio and video department, the organization, installation, operation and maintenance of all audio and video equipment within the Citadel premises and related to the Citadel’s presentation of productions in all spaces, and tours as well as other events. This position a unionized position under the provisions of the collective agreement between Citadel Theatre and IATSE 210.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supervise and direct all activities related to set-up, operation and strikes of audio and video equipment
- Lead seasonal and casual audio crews.
- Program and operate sound consoles for performances.
- Report and advise on remedies for any deficiencies in audio and video equipment.
- Maintain and organize all audio department equipment, supplies, and inventories.
- Create cost estimates for sound designs submitted by Sound Designers for all Citadel productions, co-productions, and presentations.
- Advise on the audio department needs for production scheduling in collaboration with the technical director.
- Create, maintain, and update inventory documentation and equipment lists related to audio and video equipment and supplies.
- Attend production meetings and rehearsals as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Post-secondary theatre training, working knowledge of stage audio and its equipment or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Five years’ experience within a professional theatre environment as an audio technician.

- FOH Mixing of plays and musicals
- Proficiency with QLab and Wireless Workbench software
- Reading and preparing technical drawings and documentation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Fall Arrest certificate
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to climb ladders and comfortable working at heights.
- Available to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.
- Able to lift heavy equipment – 25kg+
