The Acting and Musical Companies
Over the course of the season, students explore the core subjects of acting, voice, and movement, in addition to specialized workshops including clowning, Laban, Shakespeare, and stage combat. The program culminates in workshop productions that demonstrate the skills that the students have been working on over the year. The play and musical are directed by professional Canadian theatre artists and are chosen specially for the participants – to give them each an opportunity to shine.

We look for promise and potential – not finished products. Don’t worry if you don’t have much, or any, audition experience. Our goal to make the audition as stress-free as possible.
Young Acting Company audition requirements:
- One 2-3 minute memorized monologue from a published play.
- A secondary 2-3 minute piece – can be a contrasting monologue, a song, a movement piece, etc. If your piece requires music, we will provide a sound system capable of .mp3 playback (off of your phone or laptop).
Young Musical Company audition requirements:
- One 2-3 minute memorized monologue from a published play.
- One 2-3 minute memorized song from a musical. Please bring sheet music so you can sing with our live piano accompanist. Please do not sing with a karaoke track or acapella.
Students auditioning for both companies:
- One 2-3 minute memorized monologue from a published play.
- One 2-3 minute memorized song from a musical. Please bring sheet music so you can sing with our live piano accompanist. Please do not sing with a karaoke track or acapella.
- An additional contrasting piece – can be a contrasting monologue, a song, a movement piece, etc. If your piece requires music playback, we will provide a sound system capable of .mp3 playback (off of your phone or laptop).
