FOOTE THEATRE SCHOOL
The Foote Theatre School (FTS) provides year-round classes for all ages and experience levels in Acting, Musical Theatre, Playwriting, Improvisation, and so much more! Over 1,000 students annually are taught by our faculty of 25 local theatre professionals. Established in 1966, FTS is the largest theatre education program in Edmonton and one of the largest in Canada.

Full payment must be made at the time of registration. Please contact the Box Office for details. Registration is available online or by phone. Cancellations up to 7 days before the first class will receive a refund of the course price, minus a $50 processing fee. It is important to note that there will be no refunds after that time. Please note that there is a $25 processing fee to transfer from one class to another if within 7 days prior to the start of the class. Foote Theatre School (FTS) reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrolment. In that event, we will try to place the student in another FTS class or a full refund will be provided.
Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a class is full, registrants will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are received.
All Theatre School classes are age-specific. Any exceptions to age limits or application procedures must be approved by the Director of Education and Outreach.
Thanks to the Joseph H. Shoctor Fund we are able to offer several scholarships. These scholarships enhance community accessibility to our programs and provide students with the opportunity to train in the performing arts. Following in the spirit of these donations, recipients may be asked to volunteer/participate in certain Foote Theatre School, Young Company and other Citadel Theatre related activities.
Foote Theatre School assesses scholarship applications based on the following
- Financial Need
- A demonstrated commitment to study
- Artistic Potential
Application Process
Please submit the following documents by email to theatreschool@citadeltheatre.com.
- A letter of interest outlining:
- Which class you would like to attend.
- Why you want to take this particular class.
- Your artistic training and/or performance experience.
- Your school and grade (if applicable)
- Your financial situation
- A letter of support (from a teacher, coach, employer, etc)
The Foote Theatre School gratefully acknowledges the Rotary Club of Edmonton for their generous donation of $2,500 to our Scholarship program. With their support, we are able to offer bursaries to students and families who require financial assistance to attend our classes.
